1 John 2:1-2

1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.  And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Isn’t it good to know that when we make a mistake, we have a lawyer to take our case to the father, and all it costs us is a little time on our knees, asking forgiveness and he will grant it.

Sept 25, 2008                  WAIT Upon the Lord

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The scripture tell us to wait, yet in this fast paced life of drive-thru convenience, waiting seems to be one of the hardest things for us to do.  We expect to pray and receive an answer as soon as we are up off of our knees.  Remember that God is an on time God.  He strengthens us, while we are waiting, to continue on working for him.  He is worth the wait.

Sept 10                                    Go Where God Sends You

1 Kings 17:10  So he arose and went to Zarephath.  And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks:  and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

Because Elijah was willing to go where the Lord sent him, he was fed by the widow woman.  The widow woman’s barrel of meal and her cruse of oil did not run out until the day the Lord sent rain upon the earth.  This widow also had a son who benefited from the obedience of Elijah and his mother.  He was able to eat for days because the meal and oil was always there.

Go where God sends you.  You never know what kind of blessing you could be missing or you could be making someone else miss, if you are not obedient to the voice of the Lord

August 29 -2008                     Dry and Thirsty Land

Isaiah 41:18  I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of

the valleys:  I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and

the dry land springs of water.

Are you experiencing a dry place in your life?  Don’t

give in.  You can hold on, just a little longer.  There

is an oasis just ahead?  The Lord will not leave you

dry.  He will come on the scene; He will quench your, thirst

and saturate your land, even if the water  has to come from a rock.

If he did it for the children who wondered in the wilderness, He

will do it for you. Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee

there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and

there shall come water out of it. That the people may drink.  And

Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Don’t Judge A Man By What You See On The Outside

Jesse had all his sons, who were men of war, come for Samuel to look upon to see who would be the one chosen by the Lord to be King. As the first son past Samuel said, surely the Lord’s anointed is before him.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Then Jesse had his last son pass by and Samuel said neither hath the Lord chosen this. Again, Jesse made all of his sons pass before Samuel, and Samuel said the Lord has not chosen them. Is this all of your children? Jesse said there is one that keeps the sheep.

He was ruddy and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. The Lord said to anoint him for he is the one.

We should not look on the outward appearance of people; they can look good and holy on the outside and be wrong in their heart. We should always pray for the heart of God, like King David did.

I remember when I was younger, going to school. We would cover our books with brown paper bags and write the title on the outside, but if you were not careful you could label your book wrong. You wouldn't know it until you opened the book and looked at the pages inside.

God wants us to be pure hearted and the inside to be what is on the outside. Our cover and our contents should match up.
